HISTORICAL SOCIETY PREVIEWS PROPOSED MUSEUM
AT FORMER KENNEDY ESTATE

PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 24, 2003)--- The Historical Society of Palm Beach County hosted an intimate reception to preview its plans for the proposed Palm Beach County history museum at the home of John and Marianne Castle, who graciously offered a rare glimpse inside John F. Kennedy’s “Winter White House,” where the late President of the United States selected key cabinet members and drafted his famous inauguration speech. Former butler to the Kennedy family for over 40 years, Leo Recine, guided guests on a tour of the historic home, which included most of the Kennedy family’s original furnishings. The home was purchased by the Castle’s in 1996 and magnificently restored to preserve its place in the nation’s and Palm Beach County’s history.

Among the Historical Society supporters in attendance were Danielle Hickox; Steven Stolman; Donald Trump and Melania Knauss; Bill and Alicia Blodgett; Dominick and Susan Telesco; Ron and Michele Royal; Malcolm and Natalie Pray; Ted and Anne Brown; Anne Washburn and Jane Volk. The highlight of the evening was an opportunity for these guests to meet with Patrick Gallagher, president of award-winning design firm, Gallagher & Associates, who presented an overview of designing and building the county’s first history museum with state-of-the-art, interactive exhibits. Gallagher & Associates, whose blue-chip portfolio includes the International Spy Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, the Florida Center of Political History & Governance, and the Museum of Dallas History, was selected by the Historical Society to perform the interior design and exhibit build out for the Palm Beach County history museum, to be located inside the restored 1916 County Courthouse in Downtown West Palm Beach.
