HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PALM BEACH COUNTY APPOINTS NEW MEMBERS TO ITS BOARD OF GOVERNORS, BOARD OF ADVISORS AND EX-OFFIFIO BOARD
PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 26, 2006) — The Historical Society of Palm Beach County has appointed Frances Scaife, Dennis Casey, James Bronstien and Alan Bleznak to its Board of Governors. Katharine Dickenson has been appointed to the Board of Advisors, and State Representative Richard Machek has been appointed to the Ex-Officio Board.
Frances Scaife has an abiding interest in history and preservation, and was instrumental in the development of Station Square in Pittsburgh, a restoration and preservation project. A resident of New York City and Palm Beach, she is on the board of the New York Landmarks Conservancy and is active in a number of nonprofits in Palm Beach including the Norton Museum of Art, Palm Beach Zoo and the Palm Beach Preservation Foundation. She is a graduate of Vassar College.
Dennis Casey is first vice president and director of marketing for Fidelity Federal Bank & Trust. He has been with the bank for nearly 10 years and oversees its advertising, public relations, community events and corporate giving. He received a bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and a master’s degree in business administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University. He is a member of the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, and is a former member of the Palm Beach Community College Foundation Board and the Scholastic Achievement Foundation.
James Bronstien is the executive vice president of Broward Yachts, and the former owner/president of Rybovich Spencer in West Palm Beach. He is also the former president of SunFest, and sits on the boards of many community organizations in Palm Beach County including the Tourist Development Council, the Marine Industry Association of South Florida and the American Red Cross. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado-Boulder, where he received his bachelor’s of science in finance and marketing. He resides in North Palm Beach with his wife, Kathy.
Alan Bleznak is the owner and CEO of The Bleznak Organization, a real estate development and management company in New Jersey. He and his wife, Kathy, have lived in Palm Beach for over 13 years and remain active in a number of local philanthropic causes including the Norton Museum of Art, the Palm Beach Preservation Society, Palm Beach Zoo and Federation of Jewish Agencies in Palm Beach, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of the Palm Beach Opera, and served on the organizing committee of the Philadelphia Flower Show. He is the founder of the Patient Facilitated Care Program at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of the Wharton School.
Katharine Dickenson is trustee emeritus of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. A very active member of the community, she has served on the boards of the Children’s Museum at Singing Pines, the Historic Palm Beach County Preservation Board, and the Boca Raton Historical Society. She is a trustee of the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation and has also served on the boards of the Dorset Theater Festival and Manchester Music Festival in Vermont, and the Florida Historic Preservation Advisory Council. She was appointed to the Florida Arts Council by Florida Governor Jeb Bush and has been awarded the 1989 Florida Trust Distinguished Service Award, Palm Beach County’s Judge Knott Award in 1996, the 1995 Boca Raton’s Myrtle Butts Fleming Award and was recently inducted into Who's Who of American Women, 2006-07, the 25th anniversary issue. She is a graduate of the University of Miami with a masters in education.
Richard Machek was elected to the Florida State House of Representatives in 2000 and was re-elected in 2004. He is a member of the District 78 Agriculture and Environment Appropriations committee, the Elder and Long-Term Care Committee, the Rules and Calendar Council Committee, the State Resources Council Committee and the Water and Natural Resources Committee. He also serves as the State Chair of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Council and as the Vice Chair of the Palm Beach County Conservation Land Acquisition Selection Committee. As a member of the United States Army, he served six months active duty and spent more than five years in the Reserve. He and his wife, Wanda, reside in Delray Beach.
