STOLMAN AND BASSE NAMED CHAIRS OF ANNUAL ARCHIVAL
EVENING TO BENEFIT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PALM BEACH
COUNTY
PALM BEACH, Fla. (October, 2003)--- For the third year,
acclaimed fashion designer and Palm Beach resident, Steven
Stolman, will serve as chairman for the Third Annual Archival
Evening to benefit the Historical Society of Palm Beach
County. Maureen Basse, of Polo Ralph Lauren on Worth Avenue,
has been named vice-chairman. The event, to be held Dec.
10 at Club Colette in Palm Beach, is underwritten in part
by Polo Ralph Lauren, Northern Trust Bank and Champagne
Veuve Clicquot. Dame Celia Lipton Farris has generously
underwritten the evening’s special cabaret performance
by Broadway star, Liz Callaway.
The prestigious dinner-dance honors individuals
whose lives, legacies and accomplishments have helped to
shape the history of the Palm Beach area. This year’s
theme is “The Eyes of Betty Kuhner: A Palm Beach Family
Album,” a tribute to the legendary portrait photographer,
Elizabeth Kuhner. From the 1950s through the 1990s, Kuhner’s
unique photography captured the lifestyles of Palm Beach’s
most prominent families, documenting the spontaneity of
family life in natural settings. Over 100 of her images,
including treasured portraits of the Leighton Rosenthals,
Philip Hulitars and the Gubelmann family, will be displayed
at the event. In 2003, Betty and her family donated this
prized collection of images to the Historical Society of
Palm Beach County.
Steven Stolman’s resort wear collection
is sold at his autonomous stores in Southampton, N.Y., New
York City and Palm Beach, Fla. He is actively involved in
a variety of philanthropic organizations that promote culture
and the arts, and has served as a vice-chair for the Southampton
Hospital Summer Party. He is also a member of the Council
of Fashion Designers of America.
